Press Release For immediate release: 26 April 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Local runner’s second marathon effort to beat breast cancer Budding runner John Sullivan from Southend on Sea, Essex pounded the London pavements yesterday (Sunday) for a second year running at the Virgin London Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign. The head of commercial joined 36,000 other runners for the 26.2 mile race and finished in four hours and 25 minutes. He raised a whopping £4,000 for breast cancer research with his friend Nathan Johnson. John took part to support friend Natalie Johnson who was successfully treated for breast cancer in 2005 and also to support another friend, Shelley Dobson, who lost her mother to the disease seven years ago. John said afterwards: “I’m so thrilled to have beaten last year’s time by 55 minutes and I enjoyed the marathon more this year as I knew what to expect. The atmosphere was amazing and I want to do it again next year – probably for the last time.” Breast Cancer Campaign has lots of places available in runs throughout 2010 and 2011 so if you would like more information about running for Breast Cancer research, please call the Events team on 0207 749 3700 or visit www.breastcancercampaign.org.
