Andrea Williams, Helen Orchel, Chris Tate, Sue Moore, Jodie Hobbs and Katie Petch will begin their nine-day challenge in Jinshanling on Saturday 9 April 2011 where they will then trek along China’s most famous landmark. Each day of this intense adventure includes a 12km walk through the scenic mountain ranges before ending at Beijing to explore the culture of China’s capital city. The team are taking on the challenge to support family and friends who have had breast cancer. Andrea said: “We are lucky enough to be healthy and want to do something that is a challenge and will help other women who have been affected by breast cancer. We’ve got a whole programme of fundraising activities throughout the year, from bag packing in our local supermarket to running the Middlesbrough 10k race. The China trek will be the culmination of a year of fundraising so I hope lots of people will dig deep and sponsor us for our challenge.” So far the team have raised a whopping £16,500 so if you’d like to help them reach their £20,000 target, please visit www.justgiving.com/HEMLINGTON-HOPPERS and donate what you can. If you’ve been inspired by the teachers’ story and would like to trek the Great Wall of China for Breast Cancer Campaign please call 020 7749 4114, email treks@breastcancercampaign.org or visit breastcancercampaign.org ENDS Picture caption: The team at Viewley Primary School (clockwise: Helen Orchel, Sue Moore, Jodie Hobbs, Katie Petch, Chris Tate and Andrea Williams).
