Local volunteer group Breast Friends organised the walk and are hoping to raise £900 in sponsorship from everyone taking part. The group said: “We are thrilled the walk was a great success and we were lucky to have such good weather on the day! Everyone dressed in pink to highlight breast cancer awareness and we are definitely going to hold it at the park next year, as we enjoy raising money for this very worthwhile cause.” If you didn’t take part in the walk but would like to hold an event and raise money for Breast Cancer Campaign, please call the Events team on 020 7749 3700 or visit www.breastcancercampaign.org ENDS Picture caption: The Breast Friends Volunteer Group Notes to editors • Breast Cancer Campaign aims to beat breast cancer by funding innovative world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure • Currently it supports 101 research projects, worth over £14.2 million, in 41 centres of excellence across the UK and Ireland • Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK and accounts for nearly one in three of all cancers in women • In the UK, nearly 46,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year - that’s 125 a day • Visit www.breastcancercampaign.org
