Press Release For immediate release: 25 January 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD: 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Run for breast cancer research in 2010 Breast Cancer Campaign is encouraging all runners in the South to lace up their running shoes for the Bath Half Marathon and join the winning team in the race to beat breast cancer. The charity has places left until Friday 5 February so sign up today and start training for the 13.1 mile run on Sunday 7 March while raising money to fund vital breast cancer research. In 2009, 50 runners ran for research and raised a whopping £16,000 through fundraising and sponsorship. Cecilia Owen, Events Assistant for Breast Cancer Campaign, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that so many people ran for us in the 2009 race and really hope that more budding runners will want to join our team in 2010. Sadly, 45,500 women and 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year, so the more people we can encourage to run for breast cancer research, the closer we’ll get to beating this disease.” The charity offers great support to its running team and will be there to help runners every step of the way. To apply for a place in the Bath Half Marathon, please visit www.runninghigh.co.uk then once your place has been confirmed, please contact the Running team on 020 7749 3700 or email events@breastcancercampaign.org As a Campaign runner you will automatically become a member of Linford’s All Stars – a new exclusive club captained by Linford Christie, who offers supporters helpful training tips and nutritional advice.
