Press Release For immediate release: 28 March 2011 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Run to the Beat...and help beat breast cancer! Breast Cancer Campaign is urging runners in the South to run for breast cancer research at this year’s Run to the Beat powered by Nike +. Budding runners have until the end of April to sign up for a guaranteed place through the race organisers and Campaign wants you on its team to raise money for vital research into breast cancer. So if you’re keen to lace up your trainers and get in shape for the summer, now is the perfect time to sign up and start training for this popular half marathon on Sunday 25 September. Julia Petrukhina, Events Assistant at Breast Cancer Campaign, said: “Run to the Beat gets bigger and bigger every year and we’d love runners to sign up and choose to run as part of our team. Last year we had a record 104 runners racing around the course in Greenwich and they raised a whopping £40,000 to help us continue funding vital breast cancer research. Sadly, around 48,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year so the need to keep working towards a cure is stronger than ever. Please show your support for all women and their loved ones affected by this disease and help us make this year’s team the best ever.” Run to the Beat is set to music that has been scientifically proven to match the physical and mental demands of running a half marathon. On the day runners will start and finish at the o2 where there will be plenty of music to keep you motivated. There is no minimum sponsorship but all runners on Breast Cancer Campaign’s team will receive a professional running pack including a running vest and helpful training advice. To guarantee your place in this summer’s Run to the Beat, please register at www.runtothebeat.co.uk then once you have signed up please call Campaign on 0207 749 4114 or email jpetrukhina@breastcancercampaign.org to join Campaign’s team.
