The Olivier Award-winning actress was joined by stars from the world of music and television, including former Hollyoaks star Ali Bastian, dancer Camilla Dallerup and husband Kevin Sacre, and singer Tony Hadley, to help raise awareness of breast cancer at the lavish black tie event at the Dorchester Hotel. On the night Martine, who is Patron of the ball for a second year running, welcomed guests and hosted the VIP reception before enjoying a four course dinner and entertainment by former Spandau Ballet star Hadley. Martine chose to support Breast Cancer Campaign after a few friends and a close family friend had breast cancer. She said on the night: “I’m thrilled to support the Pink Ribbon Ball for another year. It’s such a fantastic event with everyone having a great time while raising money to support breast cancer research. It’s a cause that’s genuinely close to my heart and I’m absolutely honoured to be Patron.” This year marked the 16th anniversary of the Ball which has raised almost £2 million for breast cancer research. Campaign supporter, Ali Bastian, who lost her grandmother and auntie to breast cancer said: “I’ve had a really great time tonight and it’s so nice to see a room full of supporters who want to make a difference to people affected by breast cancer. This cause is really important to me so I’m proud to support Breast Cancer Campaign and the fabulous work they do in helping the many thousands of women affected by this disease.” This year’s Ball is expected to raise a staggering £220,000 and is run each year by Liz Doogan-Hobbs and her committee.
