New Year’s resolutions often fly out of the window before January has even begun. So set yourself a goal worth sticking to in 2010 and give yourself the perfect reason to get fit by taking on Breast Cancer Campaign’s Kilimanjaro Summit climb. The charity is encouraging all brave adventurers from Newcastle to put their new-found resolve for fitness to the test by conquering the highest freestanding mountain in the world. The trek runs from 16 – 27 June 2010, so sign up now and get training to tackle the impressive 5,895m slopes to help raise vital funds for breast cancer research. Twenty-nine-year-old Joseph English from Newcastle Upon Tyne signed up to take part in Campaign’s Kilimanjaro challenge in 2010 in support of his mum who had a cancer scare a few years ago. He is encouraging everyone in the local area to sign up and take on the challenge of a lifetime to help raise money for Campaign. Joseph said “After my mum’s scare, I’ve taken the opportunity to raise as much money as I can for Breast Cancer Campaign. Previously this has been through sponsored bike rides and fun runs, but this time it’s not going to be so easy. Climbing Kilimanjaro will be one of the hardest things I’ve done to date, but life is a challenge so I’m determined to reach the summit and raise as much money as I can for this worthwhile charity.” Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes to ever break through the Earth’s crust. This intense adventure sees trekkers tackle every eco-system known to mankind as they ascend across rough terrain and tackle high-altitude conditions in an attempt to reach its summit. If you would like to help Joseph with his fundraising by making a donation, please visit his Just Giving page at http://www.justgiving.com/josephenglish Registration for the Kilimanjaro Summit Climb is required by 16 March 2010 (other dates are available throughout 2010). Campaign has a range of other overseas challenges available, so there is a challenge to suit everyone.
