Press Release For immediate release: 6 September 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Steve joins the race to beat breast cancer Budding runner Steve Jaffrey from Inverurie, Aberdeenshire has laced up his running shoes to train for the Aviemore Half Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign. The supervisor at RBG Ltd in Aberdeen will join thousands of runners at the starting line on Sunday 17 October to support his sister-in-law Maureen Jaffrey who was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2010. Following weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she is now doing well. Steve said: “After my sister-in-law’s diagnosis I wanted to do my bit to support her fight against breast cancer. Thankfully she has responded well to treatment so I’ll be running for her and all the other 46,000 people who are diagnosed with this disease in the UK each year.” Steve is also running as a get-fit goal after quitting smoking. He added: “I used to smoke 30 cigarettes a day until I quit two years ago and took up running. I’ve done lots of 10k runs but this will be my first half marathon so I’m very excited for the challenge.” To help Steve reach his fundraising target of £300 please visit www.justgiving.com/stevenjaffrey and donate what you can.
