Press Release For immediate release: 21 June 2010 Press contact: Breast Cancer Campaign Press Office DD: 0207 749 4115, Email: press@breastcancercampaign.org Two weeks to turn Hampstead Heath pink for breast cancer research There is still time to sign up for the 12th annual Generations Walk on Hampstead Heath on Sunday 4 July and Breast Cancer Campaign needs you to put your best foot forward for breast cancer research. Hundreds of people from across London are expected to step up to beat breast cancer at the hugely popular walk which has raised more than a quarter of a million pounds to help Campaign fund research into the disease. Local Walk Champ, Cheryl Stakol, who has organised each walk after being diagnosed with breast cancer, said: “I’m thrilled the walk has raised so much money for breast cancer research as it’s a worthwhile cause that’s very close to my heart. Each year 46,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer across the UK so the need to keep funding research into this disease is stronger than ever. The walk is a really great day out so I hope lots of people will join me on the day and help Breast Cancer Campaign take a step closer to beating breast cancer.” Elizabeth Mendes da Costa, Head of National and Special Events at Breast Cancer Campaign, added: “We’re thrilled with Cheryl’s continued support and hope lots of people across London will step out and show their support for this fun Sunday walk, while helping us to continue funding vital research. The event is perfect for all the family. In addition to the walk, there are face painters and children’s entertainers plus every walker receives a medal and continental breakfast. Please sign up with your friends and family and enjoy a great day out.” The Generations Walk takes place on Sunday 4 July at 9.30am at Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath. All walkers are encouraged to wear pink and a prize will be given to the best pink fancy dress outfit. Registration is £5 for adults and free for under 12s and everyone is encouraged to raise sponsorship to help Cheryl and her team continue their work to fund vital breast cancer research. Please register your participation in advance, although late sign ups are welcome on the day. If you would like to join Cheryl on the day please visit www.generationswalk.co.uk or call the Events team on 020 7749 3700.
