Press release For immediate release: 21 April 2011 Press contact: Marilena Patuto, 020 7749 3720 mpatuto@breastcancercampaign.org Volunteers needed to join group in Reading Breast Cancer Campaign is encouraging the people of Reading to beat breast cancer by joining a dedicated volunteer group. Campaign needs the help of enthusiastic volunteers in the town to organise awareness and fundraising activities, and to represent the charity in the region. The charity’s volunteer groups from across the country are constantly finding ways to raise money for breast cancer research, organising a range of fundraising events such as hosting pink parties and holding cake sales. Working as part of a team, you can share fundraising ideas and come up with innovative ways to raise awareness of the disease. Joining a volunteer group is a great way to meet new people and make new friends in your local area, and gain some work experience and skills. As well as working as a team to organise your own events, Campaign needs the support of the volunteer group to help Paint the Town Pink. The charity’s pink fundraising initiative will be returning to the Reading for the third time this October and there will be a whole month’s worth of pink activities to organise and take part in, from collecting donations, holding fundraising parties and a swathe of shops and streets that will need turning pink! Lauren Basket, Breast Cancer Campaign’s Community Development Manager, said: “Our volunteer groups are vital to the charity’s work. They represent the charity in regions across the UK and to help raise so much money for breast cancer research. If you’re able to spare a bit of your free time and want to support a good cause, join the Reading volunteer group now and help make a difference for the 48,000 people that are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK.” For more information about joining the volunteer group in Reading email volunteer@breastcancercampaign.org or call 020 7749 3708.
