On Friday 13th Sussex Business Times and NatWest hosted their most successful regional roundtable yet on 'Entrepreneurship', with over 50 people attending the Entrepreneurial Spark hatchery in Brighton

As of January 2016, NatWest Bank and Sussex Business Times (SBT) have come together in hosting a series of roundtable discussion events across Sussex. These events aim to bring together industry experts to address regional and national business issues: particularly those that affect businesses operating across the Sussex region.

Held on a bi-monthly basis, so far SBT and NatWest have tackled the topics of: Coastal Revitalisation, held in January in Hastings; Professional Services & Technology, held in March in Crawley; and Entrepreneurship, held last Friday in Brighton.

Tim Boag, NatWest’s Regional MD for London & South East, said: “The roundtables with Sussex Business Times have been a great way of connecting people and businesses within the local ecosystem and encouraging collaboration. The most recent one at the Entrepreneurial Spark hub in Brighton was very engaging with some great input from the panel, and having an audience enhanced the event’s atmosphere. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming sessions.”

The latest roundtable installment, on Friday 13th (certainly a lucky day all round) was a resounding success. The day attracted a live audience of over 50 people to hear what leaders in the entrepreneurial community had to say about the issues affecting start-ups today.

The ten panelists included: Tim Boag, Regional Managing Director of Corporate and Commercial banking at NatwestTim Rush, Managing Director for Enterprise KPMG; Dr. George Tsekouras, Principal Lecturer on SMEs and Innovation at Brighton University; Isaac Howie Brewerton, CEO of Pixel Blimp; Melanie Lawson, Director of Bare Biology; Gary Peters, Owner of Lovelocaljobs.com; Gayle Mann, Excellence Engineer for Entrepreneurial Spark; Aurelia Buter-Ball, Associate Solicitor of Media and Entertainment at Thomas Eggar (part of the Irwin Mitchell Group); and Tom Bewick, B&H Councillor for Young People & MD of New work Training. Chairing the discussion was Fiona Anderson, Entrepreneur Development Manager, Commercial and Private Banking at NatWest.

Held in the Entrepreneurial Spark Hatchery in Preston Road, Brighton, the Chiclets from the program itself joined members of the community, with two even providing the catering for the dayIberica Delights and Nourish. Founder of Iberica Delights, Oscar Blazquez provided the tapas-style lunch for the event, including cheeses, meats and olives among many other delicious delights.
