Brighter AB (Publ) (the Company) announces that the Company has received a lawsuit from the Stockholm District Court, which was issued following claims from Brighter's founder, Truls Sjöstedt, regarding the termination of his employment contract in May 2021. The Company considers the claims to be unfounded and intends to contest them.

Truls Sjöstedt claims that the Company fired him without lawful basis. Truls Sjöstedt does not claim that the dismissal per se is invalid but demands damages and severance pay.

Truls Sjöstedt's employment contract was terminated for cause and without severance with immediate effect on May 18, 2021. He was fired, among other things, on suspicion of significant breach of contract and involvement in activities of a financial nature that damaged the Company. As previously communicated, Truls Sjöstedt was not granted discharge from liability for his administration of the Company by the shareholders for the fiscal year of 2020 at the Annual General Meeting on 21 July 2021. The Company considers that it has complied with all required formal requirements and is confident that it had good grounds for termination of employment. The Company assesses the probability that Truls Sjöstedt will succeed with his lawsuit to be low and the financial exposure is not expected to be of a significant nature either.

Brighter believes, on the available evidence, that it was entirely justified in firing Truls Sjöstedt for cause and that Truls Sjöstedt makes his claim for purely speculative purposes. As Brighter does not, as a matter of policy, comment on rumors and speculation, the Company does not intend to comment on this matter further, unless the circumstances change in a way that the communication becomes necessary under the market abuse regulations (MAR).
