Brighter expands social initiative for increased well-being among young people with type 1 diabetes.
There has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the pilot project carried out in Jönköping earlier this year aimed at developing Brighter's Pioneers community. As a result, the initiative is now being expanded through a collaboration with Swedish diabetes awareness advocate Sofia Larsson-Stern, or ‘Diabetesia’. The platform is now also being opened to additional users, initially teenagers and young adults.
“Sofia is a prominent diabetes profile who raises important topics that concern people touched by a chronic condition. We are very happy that she wants to be an ambassador for Pioneers, and we look forward to continue expanding the initiative in the future both in Sweden and globally,” says Petra Kaur, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at Brighter.
Pioneers is an interactive platform for peer coaching, knowledge sharing and motivation. The goal is to support young people with type 1 diabetes in their everyday lives, as well as contribute to increased understanding of diabetes and motivate users to improve adherence to their treatment guidelines. The platform can also be used for other groups with similar needs.
“I am a proud ambassador for this social platform that I know I needed when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 15. A safe space to engage, discuss and motivate one another is invaluable for people living with a chronic condition. I look forward to seeing how Pioneers takes shape and how it is received by a larger crowd,” says Sofia Larsson-Stern.
“This community for young people with diabetes combines integrity and security, but will also enable an important ‘colab’ for the members. Together we can create the world's best and warmest community for young people with diabetes, which is exactly how we envision the Haaartland platform being used. It should feel safe, undisturbed and you should be able to focus on building relationships and exchange information – instead of being bothered by advertising messages or being monitored. We are very happy to do this together with Brighter – one of the most innovative companies in healthcare,” says Niklas Lohmann, CEO and co-founder of Haaartland.
