Brighter AB (publ) ("Brighter") has today entered into an agreement by which Brighter invests SEK 9 million in the healthcare provider Accumbo AB. The investment corresponds to approximately 13 percent of the shares and votes in Accumbo.

The investment will be used for expansion and development of new services for both digital and physical healthcare. The partnership starts with Brighters diabetes service Actiste® and Accumbo's care service for high blood pressure. Since the launch of Blodtrycksdoktorn (“the Blood Pressure Doctor”) earlier this year, Accumbo has treated more than two thousand patients.

“High blood pressure and diabetes are closely linked and pose major challenges for healthcare and the global economy. Therefore we see that a collaboration where our diabetes service Actiste becomes part of Accumbo's platform can create great value for both companies' current and future patients. Brighters IP can also be applied in several other illnesses in addition to diabetes,” says Henrik Norström, CEO Brighter.

The collaboration means that Brighter's users, in addition to the Actiste diabetes service, will have access to the care services that Accumbo provides on its platform. In these healthcare services, patients are engaged in new ways through their own efforts and gain closer access to medical expertise such as doctors, nurses and physiotherapists but also dieticians and coaches as well as referrals for sampling. Brighter's diabetes service Actiste will be able to be provided through Accumbo's healthcare service. If Accumbo's customers want to subscribe to Actiste, this shall be possible through Accumbo's mobile application.

“The investment will simplify the establishment of Actiste in the Swedish market. We also see that there are very good conditions for scaling up the cooperation internationally to reach further markets, which is a major part of the investment decision,” says Henrik Norström.

“Both Accumbo and Brighter have great ambitions to fundamentally change the way society today handles chronically ill patients. This lays the foundation for a very exciting collaboration. Simultaneously a new research report shows that our treatment method provides more effective care for patients with high blood pressure," says Pontus Bodelsson, CEO Accumbo.

Accumbo was founded in 2017 by Martin Carlsson, associate professor at Linnaeus University, specialist physician in endocrinology / diabetes and internal medicine. The company's CEO is Pontus Bodelsson, and Magnus Nyhlén, founder of Min Doctor, is also on Accumbos Board of Directors. The company's blood pressure service, the Blood Pressure Doctor, was introduced earlier this year in Sweden and already has 2000 patients. www.accumbo.se.
