Northern Europe and South-East Asia could become the first markets for subscription services agreements for Brighter’s® integrated, online devices for insulin-treated diabetics, Actiste™ Negotiations have commenced and an agreement is expected to be concluded in the first half of 2016.

The market for data-driven healthcare is experiencing tremendous growth, as more and more companies are discovering the potential in the market. Brighter – with its cloud-based service The Benefit Loop™ defines how patients and health providers can use patient data to create considerable value for other stakeholders such as IT companies, mobile operators, the pharmaceutical industry, society and the research sector – is negotiating with five leading mobile operators about Brighter’s online diabetes tool Actiste.

– Mobile operators are extremely positive about the market that is expected to emerge around patient generated data, says Brighter’s founder and CEO Truls Sjöstedt.

– The ongoing negotiations are exactly in line with our strategy, where Northern Europe and South-East Asia have been identified as some of the most promising geographic markets. But it is also interesting to see that our work together with Ericsson in these markets has created considerable interest from mobile operators in other regions as well.

The concept that patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, automatically generate data on both their disease as well as its treatment creates considerable added-value for mobile operators, who are constantly striving to fill mobile networks with attractive and useful content.

Actiste simplifies insulin-treated diabetes by collecting the key features in an online tool that can measure blood glucose levels, dose and inject insulin, as well as store and share information. The information logged can automatically be shared with relatives or healthcare providers, via a 3G connection.

The market for data-driven healthcare is seen by many experts as the world's fastest growing market with a very high potential value - The consulting firm McKinsey & Company estimate it to be between 600 and 800 billion USD (April 2015). Above all, healthcare is expected to improve both in terms of quality and availability, by obtaining better information about patients and their treatments. McKinsey also claim that the healthcare sector will be able to reduce their costs dramatically by using data-driven healthcare systems. Healthcare costs in the USA are expected to fall by 12-17%, or 300-450 billion USD annually when the systems are fully implemented.

Brighter’s negotiations with the five mobile operators are expected to result in an agreement in the first half of 2016.
