Brighter AB (Publ) ("Brighter") announced today that the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has invited Brighter to apply for possible participation in the Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

In line with KSA’s Vision 2030, the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has launched the Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox to support investors and companies interested in the Kingdom’s emerging tech field. The Regulatory Sandbox aims to increase investment, foster innovation, maintain effective consumer protection, and encourage the introduction of new products and services into the Saudi markets. Many governments worldwide have launched regulatory sandboxes that allow firms to fast-track the testing of innovations of emerging technologies in a protected environment, and in many cases provide regulatory certainty for new technologies and services.

Regulators are looking for ways to find a balance between enabling growth and driving competition on the one hand and safeguarding the wellbeing and security of citizens on the other.

”It would be very positive for Brighter to be part of a testing environment, which would on a limited trial basis remove the legal obstacles for data processing and data roaming, which have thus far hindered our commercialization in KSA. For Brighter this can provide an unexpected opening to help patients in a country that, according to The World Health Organization, ranks second in the Middle East and seventh in the world for diabetes prevalence,” says Erik Lissner, Interim CEO at Brighter AB.

Brighter has ongoing discussions regarding potential collaboration in the KSA with both Saudi Ministry of Health as well as with different health facilities.
