More creationist Free Schools planned for 2013 opening

More Free Schools are being planned for opening in 2013 by creationists or groups with links to a creationist organisation, the British Humanist Association (BHA) has learned. Everyday Champions Church Free School bid rejected due to creationism

Everyday Champions Church’s bid to open a Free School was rejected solely due to concerns about creationism, the group have announced. The British Humanist Association (BHA) has welcomed the news, and commends the Department for Education (DfE) in seeing reason in rejecting the bid.In February, church leader Pastor Gareth Morgan stated that  ‘Creationism will be taught as the belief of the leadership of the school. It will not be taught exclusively in the sciences, for example. At the same time, evolution will be taught as a theory.’

11 out of 55 ‘second wave’ Free Schools have religious character, Everyday Champions Academy rejected

The Department for Education (DfE) today announced the ‘second wave’ of Free Schools approved to open in 2012. The 55 Schools include 11 schools designated with a religious character, lower than the proportion that applied and the proportion of existing schools. Proposed creationist Free School gets through to interview stage

Everyday Champions Church, the group bidding to set up a creationist Free School, have announced  that their proposal has passed the first round of applications and is through to the interview stage of the process.
