Following world-leading results in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, British School of Houston is set to expand its post-16 program to include A Levels. From September 2014, BSH students will have the greatest choice of high quality college preparatory qualifications available to international students worldwide. Prepared to progress anywhere in the world, BSH graduates will be ideally placed to advance to the world’s best colleges and universities.

Among the most recognized and respected qualifications in the world, A Levels offer rigorous, high academic standards within a flexible program that promotes student specialization in subjects that reflect individual interests and ambitions.

British School of Houston has established a strong reputation in post-16 education, with a pass rate of 100% in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Over the last 3 years, BSH students have achieved an average of 35 points in the IBDP; 6 points higher than the global average, placing the school among the world’s top IB schools. The school has celebrated Bi-Lingual Diplomas in French and English as well as English and Dutch.

Also in the school’s portfolio of post-16 options are the International Baccalaureate Career-related Certificate and BTECs. In 2012, BSH saw the graduation of the first BTEC Diploma students in the United States. In an innovative approach, a combination of IBCC and BTEC subjects allows students to follow a program of career-related learning at a higher level.

Like the esteemed IBDP, IBCC and BTECs, A Levels are internationally benchmarked qualifications challenging 16-18 year olds to work at an advanced level. BSH Headteacher, Stephen Foxwell, says, “Our enhanced post-16 program provides excellent preparation for college or university, enabling students to learn both broadly and deeply. They develop skills in research, analysis and problem solving, and are able to think critically and creatively. At British School of Houston we empower students with a love of learning, so they leave us excited about the next stage in their education. They seek opportunities to realize their potential, and already thinking as global citizens, take a world view when making decisions about college and university. We are delighted to be able to add A Levels to our range of high quality options for post-16 study.”
