The Broström fleet will expand by a further six 17,000 dwt product and chemical tankers to be built in Turkey under an extended co-operation with the partner Dünya Shipping in Istanbul.

Broström is a market leader in the European product tanker trade where it operates a fleet of about 60 vessels. In order to secure additional capacity to meet the increased demand for transportation services Broström has entered into an extended long-term agreement with its partner Dünya Shipping. Under this agreement the two companies will eventually own a total of six identical 17,000 dwt product and chemical tankers presently being built at three different shipyards in Turkey. Broström will own three of the vessels whereas all six will be commercially operated by Broström. The first delivery is expected late 2006 whereafter the remaining vessels will be delivered gradually until the beginning of 2008. The three vessels to be owned by Broström will be delivered during 2007. For technical details see below. Since the beginning of 2005 Broström has had an agreement with Dünya regarding the commercial management of eight product tankers of 47,000 dwt presently under construction at Korean shipyards. These vessels will be commercially operated by Broström in the expanding Asian market for transportation of refined oil products. In addition, two existing Dünya vessels are currently under the commercial management of Broström. “When we initially started our co-operation with Dünya we were focusing on the expansion of our Asian business. For long we both had the aim to also look for a co-operation in our other markets so we are very pleased with the agreement now reached”, says Lennart Simonsson, CEO of Broström.
