• Broström acquires remaining shares in Iver Ships and four product and chemical tankers Iver Ships is responsible for Broström’s global commercial activities outside Europe. Iver Ships operates a fleet of 20 vessels from 20,000 to 50,000 dwt from its offices in Sandefjord, Norway, and in Singapore. Beside the transportation of refined oil products Iver Ships is specialised in providing marine logistics services for bulk commodity chemicals, such as methanol and MTBE. The company is trading its fleet in the Atlantic basin as well as in Asia. According to an agreement with the other shareholder of Iver Ships, Dutch company Vroon B.V., Broström will acquire all outstanding shares in Iver Ships on 1 May this year and thus become the sole owner of the company. Broström has also agreed with Vroon to buy 100% in the four vessels IVER EXACT, IVER EXAMPLE (both 45,790 dwt, built in 1999), IVER PROGRESS and IVER PROSPERITY (both 31,180 dwt, built in 2001). The vessels, which are today part of the commercial fleet of Iver Ships, will be delivered to Broström in Decem-ber 2005 and in February 2006 respectively. It is Broström’s intention to re-brand the Iver Ships operation under the Broström umbrella later this year. Broström has thus given Vroon the right to use the Iver Ships brand name as from 1 January 2006. "This is an important strategic move for us in order to further strengthen Broström’s participation in the interesting deep-sea market development taking place in the expanding economies in Asia and elsewhere outside Europe. The consolidation of Iver Ships should also be seen in combination with the deals we announced earlier this year, which all contribute to the future growth of Broström. Also the commercial growth that we have experienced during the last couple of years will now, through the acquisitions, to a larger extent be reflected in our accounts. It will also help to improve transparency of our Group", says Lennart Simonsson, CEO of Broström.
