Last weekend Broström and Erik Thun AB launched their ninth out of ten smaller product tankers, ordered from the Dutch shipyard Ferus Smit. The 7,600 dwt vessel, BRO GAZELLE, and her sister vessels were specifically designed for North European short sea tanker shipping where Broström is the market leader. The BRO GAZELLE and the other vessel presently being built at the shipyard have both the highest ice class.

Short sea tanker shipping demands tight co-operation between vessel operators and their customers within the oil industry. The vessels often do numerous and short journeys within the customers’ internal logistics systems with high demand on efficient loading and discharging.

The first vessel in the series of which BRO GAZELLE is one was delivered in 1999. All vessels in that series have then been trading in the North European waters focusing on Scandinavia and the UK.

“The launch of yet another vessel in this series proves how well the vessels have met our customers’ demands regarding reliability and efficiency. By operating a large fleet of similar vessels, Broström, partners and customers have been able to develop working methods both onboard the vessels and in the ports that they frequently traffic. Thereby we have further increased the value for our customers,” says Broström’s CEO Lennart Simonsson.

Broström’s fleet today consists of 99 vessels trading in Europe, Asia and in the Atlantic basin.
