VOPAK AND BROSTRÖM · Sale of Vopak's A-shareholding in Broström completed · Koninklijke Vopak N.V. (Vopak) and Broström AB (Broström) jointly announce that the sale of Vopak's A-shareholding in Broström has been completed. The total of 273,880 A-shares representing 1% of the capital and 6% of the votes of the company were acquired by one of Broström's remaining A-shareholders, Shipinvest Intressenter AB. On behalf of Vopak, Shipinvest Intressenter AB will offer part of the acquired A-shares to the other A-shareholders in accordance with an existing agreement between the A-shareholders. With the completion of this transaction Vopak has finalised its divestment in Broström. Moreover, in line with the earlier announced strategy to reduce its stake in non-core shipping assets, Vopak also achieved its target to trim down its capital invested in shipping activities from 17% to approximately 10%. The combined proceeds from this transaction with the earlier sale of Vopak's B-shareholding now total approximately EUR 59 million and have resulted in a small book profit for Vopak. As announced the co-operation between Vopak and Broström will continue in the form of a Strategic Alliance, whereby both companies will proceed to jointly initiate and develop logistic solutions for the oil and chemical industries. The Alliance will give Vopak and Broström the opportunity to offer their current and potential customers logistic services by combining sea transport with tank storage and other logistic services including inland tanker barging.
