Brownie's Marine Announces Initiation of Strategic Plan to Further Monetize the Value of its Patents and License Agreement Portfolios
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 1, 2012 -- Brownie's Marine Group, Inc. (OTCBB:BWMG), a leading developer, manufacturer and distributor of highly specialized dive and safety products, today announced strategic plans to further leverage its considerable portfolio of Intellectual Property Rights. Brownie’s currently holds ten patents and is a party to numerous license agreements covering new technology it has developed.
The Company’s NitroxMaker™ sales continue to make inroads into new retail locations and venues, and the Company believes its leading edge technology is proving to be in a “class of its own” at the end user sites. In order to more fully capitalize on its technology, the Company has begun launching its strategic initiative to inform the broader marine market and investing public about the intellectual property rights associated with this unique breathing gas production system, which it licenses. Several direct competitors do not have clear access to the technology; yet continue to offer what appear to be infringing devices for sale. As a result Brownie’s has initiated the first phase of asserting patent rights against those companies it believes is infringing on the Nitrox patents. Additionally Brownie’s will now step up the pace on educating the consumer base regarding the benefits of the fully licensed Nitrox Maker that it sells. The main Company web site now includes references to the various patents and license agreements that the Company holds, Brownie’s sales staff will begin integrating this value-added reference into proposals.
