Big Data Solutions continued rapid growth in 2017
The leading Nordic data and analytics partner Big Data Solution Oy’s financial year of 2017 ended on March 31 2018, with the best results of its five-year history. The company’s revenue was 1,9 million euros and profitability (EBITDA) 0,4 million euros. The revenue increased by 166 percent compared to 2016.
Big Data Solutions has grown to significant actor as a cloud-based analytics provider in the Nordic market of industrial internet and IoT. Traditional business activity reports and analytics solutions are becoming more and more cloud-based, which has further increased the company’s growth.
“Investments made by Nordic companies for the development of data and analytics services will continue to provide us a strong base for future growth”, says CEO Saku Sell. “Our main partners include world leading cloud-based technology providers, such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Birst, Snowflake and Anaplan”, Sell continues.
To ensure growth also in the coming years, Big Data Solution has appointed three external new board members: Vera Backström, Pasi Lehtinen and Esa Kinnunen.
Backström has more than ten years of experience from sales and projects at the IT sector. Previously she worked at Microsoft’s service business as the Business Excellence and Operations Lead. Her background is in structural bioinformatics research and she is a board member of Detection Technology Oy and the holding company Antti Ahlström Perilliset. Moreover, she belongs to the delegation of the Finnish family owned companies’ organisation Perheyritysten Liitto.
Lehtinen is the co-founder of the management company Korona Invest. He has worked in the private equity industry for almost 20 years and has 15 years of experience as a venture capitalist. Lehtinen is an expert in Finnish and international acquisitions and divestments. Likewise, he is an Approved Board Member (HHJ).
Kinnunen has operated in leading positions in several international technology companies, including Nokia and Ericsson. He currently works as the IoT Connectivity Director at DNA and as a board member at Europe's leading cloud enabler Nordcloud.

Additionally, Terho Leijamaa, the company’s partner and Customers, Sales and Business Development Director will start as a new board member. Jukka Lepola, partner and Senior Consultant will continue as a board member.
