BT expands - increased production in Mjölby To meet the growing demand for warehouse trucks, BT will be investing almost SEK 100 million in its Mjölby plant during the coming three years. The investments are aimed at increased production capacity and enhanced productivity. The investments will be made in manufacture of electric warehouse trucks. Recently, an investment program has been carried out for manual trucks. The program extends until 2003 and is divided into stages: - Replanning and a certain amount of expansion for faster material flows. - A new, larger paint shop. - Introduction of new production techniques. - Introduction of new, more efficient assembly methods. Growing world market "Today, BT is a world leader in warehouse trucks. The decision to expand production capacity has been made in view of the expanding world market and our ambition to capture market shares," comments BT Industries' President and CEO, Carl-Erik Ridderstråle. The investment decision is also connected with the launch of new products during 2000. "We're increasing manufacturing capacity by about 40%, mainly in smaller products," says Håkan Schill, President of BT Products AB in Mjölby. He adds: "The program also aims at further enhancing our productivity why there will be only limited new job opportunities."
