BTMA elects new Chairman
Michelin’s managing director, Eric Le Corre, has been elected as the new Chairman of the British Tyre Manufacturers Association (BTMA) at a recent Board meeting.
He brings with him a wealth of tyre industry experience with almost 14 years’ in the business and takes over with immediate effect.
Le Corre will also represent the BTMA on the board of the Tyre Industry Federation (TIF).
“It’s a great honour to serve as Chairman of the BTMA as it is a very important position within the tyre industry. I aim to build upon the success that the association has enjoyed under the previous chairmanship so that our members increase their competitiveness in both the domestic and overseas markets,” said Le Corre.
Within Michelin, Le Corre has held a number of important roles prior to becoming managing director in 2010, including heading its Investor Relations department, as well as being Chief Financial Officer of Michelin North America.
“The tyre industry is not immune to the global challenges faced by all markets, so representing the interests of BTMA members over the next two years is a very exciting prospect,” added Le Corre.
Le Corre replaces Continental Tyre managing director David Smith whose two year chairmanship ended recently.

The British Tyre Manufacturers Association (BTMA) is the trade association that represents the UK interests of companies manufacturing new tyres in the UK and elsewhere in the European Union.
It aims to promote, represent and protect the legitimate interests of tyre manufacturers operating in the UK by:
- creating a positive understanding and awareness of the tyre manufacturing industry, and its products, amongst suppliers, customers, users, Government and the general public;
- achieving a legislative and regulatory environment for the industry which reflects its legitimate concerns;
- helping members to compete more effectively at home and abroad;
- assisting members to improve the health, safety and environmental performance of the industry.
