Stockholm, Sweden – BTS Group AB (publ) today announced that it has reached a settlement with Abbott Training Systems in its Australian lawsuit finalized in 2008, alleging infringement of copyright. The final court orders provide for Abbott Training Systems to pay AUD$ 440,000 to BTS. They also require Abbott Training System not to infringe BTS’ copyright in future and to destroy or deliver up to BTS documents that reproduce BTS copyright works. The orders conclude the lawsuit against Abbott Training Systems.

Abbott Training Systems was a Global Partner to Strategic Management Group Inc., acquired by BTS in 2005, until 2002. BTS alleged that after the licensing agreement came to an end Abbott made and used unauthorized copies of BTS substantial parts of several BTS products, and infringed BTS copyright. This lawsuit commenced in late 2006.

“We are very serious about protecting our intellectual property. This lawsuit was a big com-mitment and required tremendous effort. We are very pleased with the outcome.” said BTS's Chairman and CEO Henrik Ekelund. "This is a significant victory for our company, partners and most importantly our customers. The market wants the clarity of having one brand and one platform. We've accomplished that, and this agreement and the court orders protect the authenticity of our offering and value of our technology." concludes MR Ekelund.

International law firm, Baker & McKenzie acted for BTS in the copyright proceedings.
