Bupa Care Homes’ staff in Scotland are putting their running shoes on to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland on Sunday 2 May, as they take part in the Bupa Great Edinburgh run. Eight Bupa staff members from four of Bupa’s 30 Scottish care homes will be running the 10km run, which will pass landmarks such as Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument, the Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace. The Bupa Great Edinburgh Run returned to the Scottish capital in 2005 after a six-year absence, during which race was called the Bupa Great Caledonian Run and staged at Balmoral. The Bupa care homes participating in the run include: Arran View Care Home, Ayrshire Braid Hills Care Home, Edinburgh Eastbank Care Home, Glasgow Victoria Manor Care Home, Edinburgh Kenny Valentine, Bupa’s director of Scotland, says: “This is a fantastic achievement and I wish all those running the race the best of luck. The money raised will be going to a great cause and I would like to thank all the staff from Scotland for their hard work and determination in training for this event.” Lorna Rose, Bupa’s regional director for London, will be joining staff in this race. Lorna will be completing all eight races in the great run series, and this will be Lorna’s second race out of the group. Siobhan Drane, Bupa’s community affairs consultant, says: “I’m overwhelmed with the amount of interest we have had from staff who want to participate in the Great Edinburgh run. Everyone has been so enthusiastic and the money raised is supporting such a worthy cause, close to the hearts of many staff members and residents within our homes. Good luck to all those taking part!” Bupa will encourage charity fundraising by matching the amount raised by employees
