BUPA CARE HOME STAFF PUT ON THEIR RUNNING SHOES

Staff at Bupa care homes based in the London region will be putting on their running shoes to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society on Monday 31 May, as they take part in the Bupa London 10,000 Run. Eight Bupa staff members will be running the 10km race, which will pass through London’s city centre, taking in many of London’s famous sights, including Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, Cleopatra’s Needle and St. Paul’s Cathedral. The Bupa care homes participating in the run include: Elmstead Residential Home, Elmstead Lane, Chislehurst, Kent Lynton Hall Nursing Centre, New Malden, Surrey The Hornchurch Nursing Centre, Hornchurch, Essex Bupa’s regional director Lorna Rose will also be taking part in the London 10,000 run which is her fourth run of the year. Siobhan Drane, Bupa’s community affairs consultant, says: “I’m very proud that our staff are taking part in the Bupa London 10,000 Run. Everyone has been so enthusiastic and the money raised is supporting such a worthy cause, close to the hearts of many staff members and residents within our homes. Good luck to all those taking part!” Dr Graham Stokes, Bupa’s director of dementia care says: “Alzheimer’s Society and Bupa are working together across a range of projects to support people with dementia and their carers to find a cure for the future, whilst improving their quality of life and care. Both organisations share a commitment to fighting dementia and a belief in the health benefits of exercise.
