BUPA CARE SERVICES TO GO RED FOR HEART THIS FEBRUARY

February is National Heart Month and Bupa’s Care Services head office, Horsforth, Leeds will be helping to raise awareness and money in support of the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) Red for Heart campaign on Friday 26 February. 250 employees from Bupa will be taking part in events throughout the day to raise money for this worthy cause. Staff will be encouraged to wear it red and pay for the privilege. Pin badges will also be sold to raise money. Bupa’s medical director, Dr Clive Bowman, will be holding an informal Q and A session with employees from 11am, discussing the vital ways to keep a heart healthy. Sue Green, British Heart Foundation’s fundraising and volunteer manager for West Yorkshire, will be driving awareness through an information stand at the Leeds based office. A raffle will be drawn with prizes donated from local businesses including: an Ipod Shuffle, bottles of wine, Sunday lunch for two people at the Weetwood Hotel, a bottle of pink champagne from Champagne Warehouse, a voucher for a bottle of champagne at Veuve Bar de Champagne in Chapel Allerton, a David Lloyd gym pass and a bunch of flowers from Flowers by Karen in Guiseley. Siobhan Drane, Bupa’s community affairs consultant, said: “We decided to support the Red for Heart campaign because we wanted to do something fun to support the British Heart Foundation’s vital work and raise knowledge and understanding of the disease.” Jackie Skeel, head of national campaigns at the British Heart Foundation, said: “The money raised from Bupa’s Care Services going Red for Heart campaign will help save lives and fight the UK’s biggest killer.
