Bupa Care Homes raised over £5,400 by holding a charity auction in support of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. The hospice offers care and support to children with life-limiting conditions who are not expected to reach adulthood, both in their own homes and at the hospice in Sheffield. 14 Bupa managers, led by Vanessa Kemp, were involved in the auction and part of the money raised has been fund matched by Bupa Community Connections. Items auctioned on the day included: family fun days at Alton Towers and Warwick Castle, a race track day, John Lewis vouchers, a signed Everton shirt, a signed picture of the cricketer Andrew Flintoff, a framed picture of the views from the Hubble telescope, a week’s holiday rental in Cyprus and an Outdoor Pursuits Management Development package. Items were contributed by individuals and companies, including: Redworth Construction, Alton Towers Theme Park and Family Fun Resort, Williams Formula One, John Lewis, Delfont Mackintosh Theatres, National Space Centre, Oulton Park, Success Factory, Knaresborough Golf Club, High Trenhouse Management Centre and Warwick Castle. A cheque will be presented to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice on Friday 29 January at 10.30am. Vanessa Kemp, Bupa Care Homes HR Manager says: “We’re delighted that the auction has been such a success and we’d like to thank all the individuals and companies involved who were generous enough to donate items for the auction. We have raised a lot of money for the charity and everyone had a lot of fun taking part in this event.”
