The director of Bupa’s Goldsborough Estates, Simon Crewe, has been appointed chairman of the Institute of Residential Property Management (IRPM). Simon, who is also a director and executive member of the Association of Retirement Housing Managers (ARHM), will take on the role of chairman for 12 months. Goldsborough Estates, which is part of the Bupa Group, specialises in the management of private retirement and assisted living properties and has 50 purpose built developments in England and Wales. The IRPM was founded in 2002 as a means of delivering a portable professional qualification in residential property management, available to anyone working in the sector, and one which would be accepted by all those operating within it. The Institute’s aim is to raise standards in this professional sector, provide a career development path for individuals, aid in the process of recruiting new entrants to the sector and provide opportunities for continuing professional development. Simon said of his appointment: “I am delighted to have been elected to this role. I am committed to the highest levels of integrity in residential property management and I am looking forward to working with the executive team to continue to raise standards and education opportunities in this growing industry.” Jeff Platt, CEO of the IRPM, said: “We are excited to welcome Simon as the chairman of the Institute of Residential Property Management. Simon will bring with him a wealth of experience and knowledge and we are certain he will make a significant impact on the development of the organisation.”
