Members of Bupa’s Banking and Treasury and Goldsborough Estates’ Finance teams based in Horsforth, will be taking part in a community challenge on Wednesday 27 October. The teams will be painting a mural on the servery wall of Kippax North Junior, Infant and Nursery School in Leeds. The mural will be based on the children’s story Handa’s Surprise, which tells the tale of a young girl from a small village, who one day decides to take some fruit to her friend in a neighbouring village as a surprise. The team has decided to base the mural around this story as the book has many life lessons including depicting different ethnic backgrounds and cultures and highlighting the importance of healthy eating. The mural will have the added benefits of brightening the school wall and making it more interactive for the children. Chris Clarke, a teacher at Kippax North Junior, Infant and Nursery School, said: “I hope the team are ready to put their artistic skills to the test as we are really looking forward to seeing the finished result. The mural will definitely brighten up what is, at the minute, a dull wall and it will be used for educational purposes too. It will be a great teaching aid for the children.” Siobhan Drane, Bupa’s community affairs consultant, said: “Working with communities is an integral part of Bupa Care Services agenda and the team did a tremendous job organising this challenge. Everyone is really excited to be getting involved and I can’t wait to see the finished result - I think we may have a few Picasso’s in the making!”
