Residents at Bupa’s Chaseview Residential and Nursing Home, Off Dagenham Road, Rush Green, Romford, recently welcomed the Jubilee House for All Nations Church Gospel Choir to perform a number of hymns for residents and staff. The event was suggested by Donald Potter, whose wife Sylvia is a resident at the home and who visits her every day. Donald, a former lay preacher plays an active part in the home’s activities timetable, regularly performing hymns. Residents respond positively to the songs and this interaction has proven particularly beneficial to dementia residents at the home. Gilian Brown, home manager at Bupa’s Chaseview Residential and Nursing Home said: “The choir was a great idea and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Our residents who have dementia particularly enjoyed it because it was loud and jolly and the words were easy to sing along to. Mr Potter was a great help on the day assisting with refreshments and we will definitely be inviting the choir back for a repeat performance.”
