Residents and employees at Bupa’s Old Gates Residential and Nursing Home, Livesey Branch Road, Feniscowles, Blackburn held a dog show on Monday 28 September at 2pm, at the home’s Cherry Unit. RSPCA employee Ken Harrison judged the show, with categories including ‘best dog’ and ‘best bitch’. Residents, relatives and staff brought in their pooches to take part in the ‘scruffs’ dog show. After watching an RSPCA television programme, residents began knitting large and small blankets for the charity to keep sheltered animals warm. Ken collected the blankets after the judging ceremony. Gail Downes, activity co-ordinator at Bupa’s Old Gates, says: “Our residents had a great time at our ‘scruffs’ dog show. They worked extremely hard on the animal blankets and enjoyed interacting with the dogs. The event was a great success and everyone had a good time.”
