ELSIE CELEBRATES A CENTURY!

Mrs Elsie Roe, a resident of Bupa’s Hammerwich Hall Residential and Nursing Home, Hammerwich, Burntwood, is looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday on Saturday 20 February. The home will be celebrating with a special lunch with her daughters which will include Elsie’s favourite food sausage and mash, followed by Apple Pie and Custard. A further buffet will be held at 3pm for the family and friends followed by the presentation of a birthday cake. Elsie was born in 1910 in Walsall Wood. She married her husband Charles in 1933 and together they went on to have two daughters, Glenda and Janice. Elsie now has four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her career was spent as a glove maker and school kitchen assistant. Elsie was involved with the Girl Guides, was a keen gardener and enjoyed dancing. She still loves to read regularly. Charles Turner, home manager at Bupa’s Hammerwich Hall Residential and Nursing Home, says: “We are delighted to share this special occasion with Elsie. She is really looking forward to reaching the 100 landmark and we hope it will be a really special day for her to spend with her daughters.”
