Bupa’s West Ridings Residential and Nursing Home in Wakefield has recently been awarded a five star rating in an inspection carried out by Wakefield Council’s Environmental Health Office. West Ridings underwent the inspection as part of the Council’s ‘Scores on the Doors’ scheme, which runs throughout West and South Yorkshire. Key areas of practice are inspected, including food hygiene and handling, food temperature control, cleanliness, ventilation, hand washing facilities, and confidence in management. These scores are then made available to the public on the ‘Scores on the Doors’ website (http://www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk/) The five star rating is a reflection of the home’s achievement in reaching very high standards of food safety, and is the best score they have achieved at West Ridings to date. Sandra Hustwick, home manager stated: “We have an excellent team working in our kitchen, headed up by the hard work of our chef manager, Michelle Hall. Michelle joined Bupa’s West Ridings about a year ago, and has put in place a stringent food safety management system which ensures that we are able to maintain very high standards and an effective service to our residents, to meet all their varying needs.” Tim Brooke, Bupa’s Head of Hotel Services, says: “At Bupa we take our responsibilities for food safety very seriously and strive to ensure the highest possible standards for our residents. We congratulate chef manager Michelle Hall and her team on achieving this excellent rating and know that she will continue to push for even higher standards of quality and service.”
