Residents and staff at Cottingley Hall Nursing Home are celebrating this week after the home was announced as the winner of Bupa’s annual Christmas cake competition. Bupa care homes from across the North took part and submissions included a 3D snowman, a penguin ski run and a model of santa tucked up in his bed on Christmas day. The winning entry was a wintery village crafted entirely in white icing, complete with a village church and windows looking in on the scene. Tracey Fletcher, Director of Bupa Care Homes in the North said; “The standard of cakes from our care homes this year was remarkable and credit has to go to the chefs and their kitchen teams who really pulled out the stops and made life extremely difficult for the judges.” Catherine Davies, manager at Cottingley Hall said; “Everyone here is delighted that our entry won the competition and I’m very proud of our kitchen team. It seems a shame to cut it up but I think our residents are looking forward to a piece of award-winning cake!”
