Mrs Jenny Tighe, a resident of Bupa’s Hillview Nursing Home, Eston, Middlesbrough, is looking forward to celebrating her 102nd birthday on Monday 19 April at 2pm. The home will be celebrating with a special fun filled day, which will include a male vocalist, a raffle, tea tasting and lots more surprises. Jenny was born in 1908 in Hartlepool but spent her childhood in Brambles Farm, Middlesbrough. After leaving school, Jenny took a job as an office worker in Smiths Dock, later taking the role as housekeeper for the village priest. Jenny married, but unfortunately became a war widow. Although the couple had no children, Jenny was very much involved with her nieces and nephews and helped to look after them at every opportunity. Jenny loves to sing and entertain people and was an active member of the church choir in Brambles Farm. At Hillview, Jenny is happy to join in with the homes activities and enjoys the company of the other residents and staff. Sheila Smith, home manager at Bupa’s Hillview Nursing Home, says: “We are delighted to share this occasion with Jenny. She is really looking forward to her special day and we hope she enjoys the singer, I have no doubt she will join in with some of the songs. It will be a great start to our Communi-tea Week event also.”
