Wednesday, 01 July 2009 Residents at Bupa’s St Christopher's Nursing Home, Drakes Way, Hatfield are looking forward to a celebratory garden party on Saturday 4 July from 2.30pm to 5pm. Councillor Kim Langley, Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield will be attending. The garden party is to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the home’s sensory garden. The garden is located on the Johnson House unit of the home and includes several raised flowerbeds filled with bright and colourful flowers. There is also a largo gazebo with reclining chairs, allowing residents to enjoy the garden, with a canopy of climbing plants visible for those who can only look upwards. There is also paving throughout the new area to allow residents in wheelchairs to be able to access the garden and residents to use it all year round. Retired head gardener from ICI and Hatfield House, Derrock Ingrey, directed the planting and continues to maintain the garden. Iola Samuels, Head of Care at Bupa’s St Christophers says: “I would like to thank everyone that has contributed to this wonderful garden. Our residents love the different coloured flowers and scents which all make it a lovely place to come and relax.” ENDS
