Mrs Mary (Babs) Hopkins, a resident of Bupa’s The Harefield Nursing Centre, Harefield, Middlesex, is looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday on Wednesday 13 October. The home will be celebrating with a party for family and friends from 2.30pm with food and refreshments. Babs was born in 1910 in Hammersmith and attended Brackenbury Road School and later Shepherds Bush School, before taking a position with the ambulance service. Babs had two sisters and a brother and went on to marry, where she had twin boys. Babs loves reading thrillers and was a keen golfer in her day. She is also very fond of dogs and enjoys the occasional game of Bridge. Babs has been at The Harefield Nursing Centre for the last year and is a much loved lady by staff and residents. Wendy Marsh, home manager at Bupa’s The Harefield Nursing Centre, says: “All the staff and residents are delighted to share this special occasion with Babs. We hope she enjoys her party. It will be a really exciting day for her to spend with her friends and family and she is excited about receiving her telegraph from the Queen. Babs is a much loved resident and an inspiration to us all.”
