MEADOW BANK OPENS SWEET SHOP AND CAFÉ

Tuesday, 23 June 2009 Residents at Bupa’s Meadow Bank Nursing and Residential Home, Bamber Bridge, Preston are looking forward to the grand opening of Meadow Bank’s ‘Memories’ sweet shop and café on Thursday 2 July. Mayor of Preston, Keith Sedgewick will be cutting the ribbon at Bupa’s first old fashioned sweet shop and café at 1pm followed by a champagne reception at 2pm. The sweet shop and café is being launched for residents to enjoy and reminisce. The shop will have sweets in old fashioned jars, including old favourites such as chocolate éclairs, coltsfoot rock and many more. There will also be a mural of a ‘ye old fashioned sweet shop’ on the wall, a wooden counter and shelves, and an original till. Becky Vernon, Activitiy Co-ordinator at Bupa’s Meadow Bank says: “Everyone can’t wait for the shop and café to open! It will give residents the perfect opportunity to visit their local shop as they used to when they were children. We are all so excited and hope that our residents will enjoy.”
