‘MUSIC IN HOSPITALS’ BRINGS MUSIC TO RESIDENTS’ EARS

Wednesday 24, June 2009 The residents of Bupa’s Norewood Lodge Nursing Home, Nore Road, Portishead will be serenaded by Katharine Lloyd and Gerry Hoddinott, singer and pianist duo on 1 July at 2pm. The concert has been organised by Music in Hospitals (MiH), a leading charity that provides professionally performed live music in health and care settings throughout the UK. It’s ‘Musical Memories in Care Homes’ project offers live music from a variety of performers, styles and instruments to care home residents. Concerts so far have been hugely successful with a variety of resident groups, including people with dementia. The charity’s chief executive, Diana Greenman, says: “All I can say, from the bottom of my heart, is a great big thank you to everyone at Bupa for helping Music in Hospitals bring so much pleasure to those people who need it most of all.” Bupa Care Homes’ Community Affairs Consultant, Siobhan Drane, adds: “We’re delighted that the project is going so well and that our residents are really benefiting from these live performances. We look forward to the continued success of this project and support of this great charity.”
