Mrs Nanws Morris, a resident of Bupa’s Hazelmere House Nursing Home, Wilmslow, Cheshire, is looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday on Friday, 15 October. The home will be celebrating with a special afternoon tea and birthday cake with her family and other residents from 2pm. Nanws was born in 1910 in North Wales in Dolyddelan and has since lived in Scotland, Paris and Southern Ireland. She married her husband Robert and together they went on to have one son. Nanws has a passion for languages and would always joke that Welsh was a better language than English. Nanws middle name is Charles, a name that was given to her after the founder of the World Wide Bible Society. The name has been passed down from generation to generation, her mother being christened Jenny Charles Edwards. Nanws has been a resident at Hazlemere House for 24 years and came to the home only a year after it opened. Susan O'Hara, home manager at Bupa’s Hazelmere House Nursing Home, says: “We are delighted to share this special occasion with Nanws. She is really looking forward to reaching the 100 landmark and we hope it will be a really special day for her to spend with her friends and family. Nanws has been with us for such a long time and we really want to make this day special for her.”
