PRESENTATION TO WOMENS’ WW2 LAND ARMY

Monday, 22 June 2009 Residents at Bupa’s Southway Residential Home, London Road, Bedford that served in the womens’ land army during the Second World War will be presented with commemorative badges and certificates on Monday 29 June at 3pm by H.M Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Mr Samuel Whitbread. To celebrate two of Bupa’s Southway residents, Mrs Lottie Wilson and Mrs Mary Pibworth receiving commemoration for their work in WW2. The home will be decorated with flags, bunting and land army posters. Staff will be dressing up in 40’s style clothing and there will be a 40’s style feast for residents to enjoy. There will also be an entertainer dressed in RAF uniform performing war time classics such as Vera Lynn ‘we’ll meet again’. Amanda Eddy, Deputy Manager at Bupa’s Southway says: “We are delighted that two of our residents are finally receiving recognition for their tremendous contribution towards the Second World War. I hope that the day will be a joyous occasion for everyone.”
