Monday, 22 June 2009 Residents and staff at Bupa’s Mersey Parks Residential and Nursing Home, Mill Street, Toxteth are talking part in a sponsored walk from the famous Albert Dock to Otterspool on Tuesday 30 June at 2pm. The walk from Albert Dock to Otterspool will be about 4½ miles in length. Along the way walkers will see the magnificent Pier Head buildings and the Albert Dock and other southern dock areas. The walk continues along the Mersey Way by the river side and finishes in Otterpool Park. There will be nine residents and nine members of staff from Bupa’s Mersey Parks taking part in the sponsored walk for cancer research. The team hope to fund raise as much as possible towards testicular cancer. Around 2,100 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer every year in the UK, and rates are rising. But treatment for testicular cancer is very effective and nearly all men are cured of the disease. Mary Barnes, Activity Co-ordinator at Bupa’s Mersey Parks says; “Everyone is looking forward to the event, we are fortunate that the walk has some great sights along the way which I am sure our residents will love!”
