SCOTS GUARDS STAND TO ATTENTION AT GOLFHILL

Residents and staff of Bupa’s Golfhill Care Home, Dennistoun, Glasgow, were thrilled to welcome a visit from a twenty-seven man platoon from the Scots Guards. Patricia Shields, Unit Manager at Golfhill Care Home, arranged the visit after discovering that the late husband of resident Elizabeth Ward, aged 98, had been in the Scots Guards for many years. Patricia’s own son-in-law, Colour Sergeant John Lilley, and grandson, Guardsman John Lilley Jr, are currently members of the Scots Guards and are awaiting deployment to Afghanistan in the coming weeks. The platoon joined the residents of the home for a buffet lunch, and each received a Bupa Personal Best award, which recognises the special achievements of individuals and groups. Ray Ainsworth, Home Manager at Bupa’s Golfhill Care Home said “All the residents were very excited about the visit from the Scots Guards, and it’s wonderful that the whole platoon managed to join us. The Scots Guards hold a special place in many of our hearts, and we hope they had a wonderful morning in reward for all their hard work and bravery.”
