SUMMERHILL TAKE PART IN DIGNITY ACTION DAY

Residents, relatives and staff at Bupa’s Summerhill Nursing and Residential Home, Kendal, Cumbira, is taking part in Dignity Action Day on Thursday 25 February at 2pm. The Alzheimer’s Society have arranged this event and invited Local MP Tim Farron to visit the home, where he will read with the residents. Activities on the day will include memory games and musical bingo. Afternoon tea and cakes will be served, giving families the opportunity to talk to the Alzheimer’s Society about any questions they may have. Dignity Action Day gives everyone the opportunity to contribute to upholding people's rights to dignity and provide a truly memorable day for people receiving care. Dignity Action Day aims to ensure people in care are treated as individuals, are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives and provide stimulating activities. Kath Dean, home manager at Bupa’s Summerhill Nursing and Residential Home, says: “We are all very proud to be supporting Dignity in Action Day which celebrates our achievements in the care sector. One aim of the day is go above and beyond our usual day jobs and really make a difference to our residents. We are looking forward to storytime with our MP and are excited about all the planned activities on the day. We hope that we can all make a difference to our residents.”
