The residents and staff of Bupa’s The Harefield Nursing Centre, Hill End Road, Harefield, will be setting out on a sponsored walk in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society. The walk will take place on Monday 21 September and will start from the home, finishing at the village green, with volunteers setting off at 10am. One in three people over the age of 65 has a form of dementia and there are currently 700,000 people living with dementia in the UK. As The Harefield offers nursing care to people with dementia, the work of the Alzheimer’s Society is particularly relevant. Melissa McGovern, activity co-ordinator at Bupa’s The Harefield, says: “The memory walk enables our residents to have a fun day whilst raising funds for this worthy cause. Everyone is really looking forward to this event.” People wishing to make a donation to the charity or sponsor the home’s walkers can call The Harefield on 01895 825750.
