Staff and residents at Bupa’s Trowbridge Oaks Residential and Nursing Home, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, are celebrating after winning first prize for their garden at Trowbridge in Bloom. Trowbridge in Bloom is a free gardening competition that gives local residents and businesses in the area a chance to show off their green fingers. The competition supports and encourages gardening, horticulture and environmental sustainability to make Trowbridge a greener, brighter and better place to live. Thanks to the hard work and determination of everyone at the home, the team are now celebrating winning the prestigious first prize in the commercial category of the competition. The garden was judged for its health and vigour, design, plant selection, maintenance of lawns and plants, cultivation and weed control, harmonious blending of colours, shapes and textures, and the ‘wow’ factor. Prizes will be presented to the home at a special awards ceremony held at St Augustine’s College on Tuesday 19 October. Tracy Williams, home manager at Bupa’s Trowbridge Oaks Residential and Nursing Home, said: “This is an magnificent achievement for the home and is well deserved. I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work. We have received numerous positive comments on how wonderful the garden looks and all this would not be possible without the involvement and dedication of our team and the local community. We’ll be striving for the first place award again next year.”
